Cummings Engineering Poised to Revolutionize Mobile Devices

Filed under: Uncategorized — Rebecca Howe @ 6:57 PM

The world is moving into an age where consumers and enterprises alike are using mobile devices to manage their daily lives, handling everything from banking and point of sale transactions, to managing their healthcare and other confidential data transactions online.  Meanwhile they may not realize how vulnerable their phones, computers and netbooks are.

“It is pretty easy for a person with some technological knowhow to intercept a text message or email and even a voice call. Personal and privileged data is wide open to malicious access, which can result in significant damage” says Darren Cummings, President of Cummings Engineering.

Cummings Engineering is there to safeguard and protect information and identities through its patent-pending security technology originally designed for the Department of Defense.  This breakthrough technology will allow users to effectively secure mobile voice and data communications at a much higher level than any other product on the market today. Users such as hospitals, banks/lending institutions, and even the general public will have the ability to protect their mobile communications, including privileged data, like never before.

“Our products make sure that files, texts and voice calls make it to their destinations without the risk of being intercepted and protects all data on the device such that unauthorized access is prohibited, “ said Cummings.

The system was designed with robust data-at-rest and data-in-transit security requirements. The technology will advance the ability of many industries to move to mobile devices safely and securely.

“This technology also has tremendous implications for the medical world,” says Nikole Cummings, owner of Cummings Engineering. “A person’s medical record is the kind of information that people want to keep confidential and safe, but still be able to easily and efficiently share with their medical professionals.”

Cummings Engineering, is an established leader in the world of mobile device security and encryption.  Look for product release announcements in the near future as their technologies will change and secure the way the world does business.

Cummings Engineering is a proud member of the Chandler Innovations Technology Incubator and is aligned with the as the City’s ambition to continue establishing itself as a leader in technology and sciences.

Chandler’s All-America City title earned during tough times

Filed under: Uncategorized — Rebecca Howe @ 10:17 PM

by Edythe Jensen – Jun. 22, 2010 09:45 AM – The Arizona Republic

Three Chandler programs that focus on youths and families brought the community its first All-America City award and the only one for Arizona this year. The honor came during tough economic times when officials sought donations and travel bargains to send 23 delegates the Kansas City, Mo., competition last week. The contingent was considerably smaller than those of other finalists, Chandler spokeswoman Nachie Marquez said. Local families, teens, city and school officials touted their programs before a judging panel. The youngest was 5-year-old Bella Lamis, who raved about family visits to the Chandler Heights Environmental Education Center and her favorite activity there: story time. Sponsors will pick up most of the estimated $25,000 tab for travel and accommodations; Marquez said $16,000 has been raised and more donations are coming in. “Now we’re planning a community celebration” and looking for contributions to pay for the party, she said. The 61-year-old awards program recognizes outstanding civic accomplishments. Winning communities had to show how they address serious challenges by promoting civic engagement and cooperation. The payoff, city officials said, is positive national attention that can boost economic development.

Chandler Heights Community Facilities
Utility, parks and police staff worked together to turn 113 acres of municipal land into a water recharge area that opened in 2008 and includes a park, urban fishing lake, 4.5 miles of trails, an environmental education center and police substation.

At the northeastern corner of Chandler Heights and Lindsay roads the project serves a newer part of the city that had fewer recreation venues. It has become a habitat for butterflies and hummingbirds and a gathering place for family picnics and education programs with a staff naturalist to explain the recharge process and its benefits to humans and wildlife.

Chandler CARE Center
This school-based children’s clinic provides free acute-care medical treatment to more than 1,300 poverty-level babies and youths in Chandler. Established at an elementary school 16 years ago, the center outgrew its classroom space and opened a new 8,800-square-foot facility in February with financial help from the city and private contributions, including physicians and dentists who donate their time. The new facility is expected to double the children served and includes four dental operatories that can treat up to 150 patients weekly.

The center provides immunizations, counseling, social services, parent education programs and supplemental food and clothing for families in need.

Chandler Coalition on Youth Substance Abuse
Two years ago, a group of teenagers under the direction of ICAN (Improving Chandler Area Neighborhoods) set out to reduce underage drinking. It targeted downtown merchant’s liquor advertising and got many to remove signs and banners that were visible from the street. The group encouraged business owners to step up age-verification checks and created an educational video to reduce the adults willing to buy alcohol for underage drinkers. The results include fewer alcohol signs in the city’s redevelopment area, stepped up “carding” by merchants and fewer adults willing to buy liquor for minors.
